Kabiguru Industrial Training Institute

A high level meeting was convened on 09.05.2008 at New Delhi, by the then Hon’ble Speaker, Loksabha Late Somnathnath Chatterjee which was attend by the then Hon’ble Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises; Hon’ble Minister of power, Govt. of India, Chairman CEA, CMD; BHEL, Chairman DVC, Addl. Secretary, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprise, GOI; DGE&T, Ministry of Labour & Employment, GOI; Secretary Department of Technical Education & Training, Govt. of West Bengal, Principal secretary to the then Hon’ble speaker, Lok Sabha, and other distinguish personalities.

In the meeting, it was decided to set up a Industrial Training Centre (ITC) at Bolpur to provide to high quality technical education and give up a fillip to the economic development needs of the area with the co-operation of BHEL, DVC, COAL INDIA LTD. & SSDA.

Total area of this Institute, Kabiguru Industrial Training Centre (KGITC) is situated on a plot of land measuring 5.08 acre which has been provided by Sriniketan Santiniketan Development Authority (SSDA) as their contribution. A society has been established for the implementation and management of the Institute vide registration No. S/IL/54930 of 2008-2009 dated 17.09.2008 under the society registration act XXVI of 1961 with member from all the stake holders viz DVC, BHEL, CIAL & SSDA.

KGITC has been registered us/ 12AA act of Income tax and thereby permitted deduction for exemption of Income Tax U/s 80(G) of the Income Tax act 1961.

Hostel accommodation for the needy students are available in the campus. At present 52 students can stay on room sharing basis. Apart from the kitchen , Dining Hall, Wash Room, Laundry Room etc. are provided.

At present, we are imparting training in Fitter, Electrician and Welder trades and are shortly planning to start other highly demanding trades.
